While the 20s era was covered very successfully by Frankie Gavin and De Danann with their 1989 album <em>Star Spangled Molly, <\/em>the greatest hit record of any Irish music act, the Roaring Twenties Irish Orchestra will revive that extraordinary era once again with their new recording and the string of performances that will follow. Their album, <em>By Heck<\/em>, was launched in Waterford&#8217;s City Hall with a formal reception by the City Council and the Mayor of Waterford, followed by a performance of the music from the album. He played banjo, fiddle and mandolin in many bands throughout the 1980s and 90s, including Mairtin O\u2019Connors Chatterbox band, and travelled the world with the Chieftains, guesting with them wherever they played. Martin also played and recorded with such luminaries as accordionist Mairtin O\u2019Connor, M\u00edche\u00e1l \u00d3 S\u00failleabh\u00e1in, Bill Whelan and Liam Clancy amongst others. In 1993 he released his own album, <em>A Dark Horse, <\/em>in the company of Frankie Gavin, Matt Molloy, Derek Bell, Gary O\u2019Briain, Seamus McGuire, Jimmy Faulkner, Mairtin O\u2019Connor and more. <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1210\" src=\"https:\/\/frankiegavin-dedannan.irish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/mms_img1018770560.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"445\" srcset=\"https:\/\/frankiegavin-dedannan.irish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/mms_img1018770560.jpg 555w, https:\/\/frankiegavin-dedannan.irish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/mms_img1018770560-169x300.jpg 169w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 85vw, 250px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Martin opened his own recording studio, Beau Street Studio, in Waterford in the 1990s.\u00a0 Albums recorded there include M\u00e1irt\u00edn O\u2019Connor&#8217;s <em>Perpetual Motion<\/em> and <em>The<\/em> <em>Fire Aflame <\/em>featuring Matt Molloy, Liam O&#8217;Flynn and Sean Keane. Martin has also recorded live performances for Liam Clancy (<em>Live at the Olympia) <\/em>and De Dannan (<em>Live in Italy<\/em>)\u00a0 both broadcast by RTE.\u00a0 Now living back home in Carrick on Suir, Martin continues to play and record great music. It has been remarked that his banjo playing style is close to that of the great Mike Flanagan,<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Carl Hession<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>Carl Hession is a notable composer, arranger and pianist. <sup>\u00a0<\/sup>Originally from Galway, he has All-Ireland titles to his credit as a soloist and as a member of duets and trios with flute player Matt Malloy and accordionist Joe Burke. He studied classical piano at University College, Cork where he completed a BA in music, specialising in keyboard \u00a0improvisation. <sup>\u00a0<\/sup>He played with the ceili band Shaskeen with whom he recorded several albums, and with band Moving Cloud.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1201\" src=\"https:\/\/frankiegavin-dedannan.irish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Carl-Hession-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/frankiegavin-dedannan.irish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Carl-Hession-1-1.jpg 675w, https:\/\/frankiegavin-dedannan.irish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Carl-Hession-1-1-300x217.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 85vw, 250px\" \/>He has also worked with traditional musicians Frankie Gavin and Joe Derrane and, for several years he was part of the highly-successful Rhythm of the Dance team with the National Dance Company of Ireland. Together with Frankie Gavin, Carl has arranged all the brass and reed parts for this Roaring Twenties project.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emma Corbett (Melodeon)<br \/>\n<\/strong>Emma is a melodeon player from Ballymacarbry Co. Waterford and is a former student of Bobby Gardiner. She was All-Ireland Feadh Cheoil champion in 2012, 2015 and 2016. She has toured Ireland with the group &#8216; Macalla na h\u00c9ireann &#8216; and is a regular performer with &#8216;Br\u00fa Bro\u00fa &#8216;. Hernon and melodeon player extraordinaire P.J. Conlon to name but a few! Emma plays <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beltuna.com\/en.html\">Beltuna<\/a> melodeons in D and E Flat.<br \/>\nShe is also a music teacher who gives private lessons and\u00a0 works with several comhaltas branches.\u00a0 Her family owns and runs Lonergans Bar in Clonmel where regular sessions are held.
