Their first public appearance was at the Gradam Ceoil Awards on February 4th 2018 and their first full gig took place at The Everyman in Cork on February 18th. The group comprises Eadaoin Ni Mhaicin, Ciara O&#8217;Brien, Frankie Gavin and Sorcha Costello. They have won numerous awards and All-Ireland competitions, and toured the world both in a solo capacity and in a range of groups and orchestras.<\/p>\n<p>Those familiar with Frankie Gavin\u2019s past musical output will know that he is fiercely committed to\u00a0presenting traditional Irish music in a modern context. The\u00a0repertoire of\u00a0<strong>The Provenance<\/strong>\u00a0will reflect this, so expect blistering sets of jigs and reels, sprightly hornpipes and barn dances as well as slower more reflective pieces.<\/p>\n<p>Their first full concert, at the Everyman in Cork had the audience on their feet demanding more!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS<br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>SORCHA COSTELLO<\/strong> <\/span>has been playing music since before she can remember. At a very young age she performed on stage with her mother, Mary MacNamara, in Shetland, Norway, France, Australia and Ireland. Now, in her early twenties, she has a degree in Music and English from UCC and has had an illustrious career having won various All-Ireland Fleadhanna Cheoil solo, duet and band accolades. A native of Tulla, Co. Clare, Sorcha has inherited the east Clare style of fiddle playing but also has an interest in many other fiddle styles.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1161\" src=\"https:\/\/frankiegavin-dedannan.irish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Screen-Shot-2018-03-08-at-10.53.58.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"401\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/frankiegavin-dedannan.irish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Screen-Shot-2018-03-08-at-10.53.58.png 727w, https:\/\/frankiegavin-dedannan.irish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Screen-Shot-2018-03-08-at-10.53.58-300x234.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 401px) 85vw, 401px\" \/>She has performed as a solo musician on national radio and TV and continues to perform as a solo artist at festivals. On the recently released album \u201cThe Lady\u2019s Cup of Tea\u201d which Sorcha recorded with Mary MacNamara, the magical empathy that results from a mother\/ daughter musical bond is captured. Sorcha is now a sought after fiddle teacher in East Clare.<br \/>\nIn addition to\u00a0 fiddle playing, Sorcha has studied classical piano and saxophone. She <span class=\"_5yl5\">also has a huge interest in equine sports and athletics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>\u00c9ADAOIN\u00a0 N\u00cd MHAIC\u00cdN<\/strong><\/span> , from Balla in Co Mayo, is a Primary school teacher in Coolmine, Dublin. She holds numerous All-Ireland titles in the Fiddle, Harp Piano, Viola and Lilting, and was crowned All-Ireland Senior Fiddle champion at Fleadh Cheoil na h\u00c9ireann in Ennis in 2016 and <span class=\"_5yl5\">at Oireachtas na Gaeilge (see photo). <\/span>She is also a former winner at The World Fleadh on the fiddle, and has represented Comhaltas Ceolt\u00f3ir\u00ed \u00c9ireann on the Concert Tour of Ireland (Macalla) in 2014. She represented CC\u00c9 on the Tour of Britain &#8211; <em>Echoes of Erin &#8211;<\/em> in 2015 and on the North American Tour in October 2015. In August 2014, she represented Ireland at the <em>Festival Interceltique de Lorient<\/em> in Brittany where she won the International Harp Competition, <em>Troph\u00e9e des Harpes Camac<\/em>, the first and only Irish winner of this prestigious award.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1162\" src=\"https:\/\/frankiegavin-dedannan.irish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Screen-Shot-2018-03-08-at-10.56.19.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"347\" srcset=\"https:\/\/frankiegavin-dedannan.irish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Screen-Shot-2018-03-08-at-10.56.19.png 648w, https:\/\/frankiegavin-dedannan.irish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Screen-Shot-2018-03-08-at-10.56.19-300x260.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 85vw, 400px\" \/>She was invited to perform at the International Education Expo in China in Oct. 2016, where Ireland was named as a \u201ccountry of honour\u201d. While there, she performed at the Irish Embassy and at a number of universities. Her impromptu performance on the Great Wall of China succeeded in reaching a worldwide audience<br \/>\nShe was a member of the National Folk Orchestra of Ireland which toured Ireland with the <em>Bor\u00f3imhe Suite<\/em> in 2014 to commemorate the Battle of Clontarf (1014), and in 2016 for the performance of a new suite, <em>Macalla<\/em> to commemorate the 1916 Rising.<br \/>\nShe provides workshops abroad as well as home tuition, and adjudicates at Fleadhanna Cheoil throughout Ireland and in North America and Britain.<br \/>\n<em>T\u00e1 gr\u00e1 thar chuimse aici don Gaeilge agus labhra\u00edonn s\u00ed \u00ed gach seans a fhaigheann s\u00ed. (She has a great love for the Irish language which she speaks at every opportunity. Along with her other awards, she has won a prize for Irish conversation at Fleadh Cheoil na h\u00c9ireann.)<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">CIARA N\u00cd BHRIAIN<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong> started learning violin with the <em>Young European Strings<\/em> at the age of three. When she was 12, she began studying viola with Liz Czibi in the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin. She then pursued her studies on viola with David O\u2019Doherty at the Dublin Institute of Technology (D.I.T.) where she\u00a0 also studied Irish and Concert Harp with the wonderful Denise Kelly.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1169\" src=\"https:\/\/frankiegavin-dedannan.irish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Unknown.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/frankiegavin-dedannan.irish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Unknown.jpeg 533w, https:\/\/frankiegavin-dedannan.irish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Unknown-200x300.jpeg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 85vw, 400px\" \/><br \/>\nCiara has been awarded prizes at the ESB Feis Ceoil and Sligo Feis Ceoil on both viola and harp. She won the Miscellaneous competition on viola at the All-Ireland Fleadh in 2012 and the under-18 All-Ireland fiddle competition in 2013. She has collaborated with Grammy Award-Winning producer Judith Sherman on a recording of composer Dave Flynn\u2019s work <em>Stories from the Old World<\/em>.<br \/>\nCiara is the deputy leader of the viola section in the <em>Clare Memory Orchestra<\/em>, a new project initiated by Dublin composer Dave Flynn. She also performed as soloist with the orchestra at the <em>Jeonju International Music Festival<\/em> in South Korea.<br \/>\nIn recent years Ciara has been in demand as a teacher of fiddle and harp and is often invited to conduct workshops in Ireland and Europe, where she also performs regularly on radio and television.<br \/>\nComing from a musical family, Ciara has had the chance to perform with her father Mick and siblings at\u00a0 festivals around the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Publicity here The Provenance came into being in late 2017 and is a new departure for Frankie Gavin.
